My paintings tend to lean toward expressive portrait and figurative pieces along with abstract selections. I paint in whatever style reflects my mood and often work on multiple paintings at the same time. My drive comes from a desire communicate thoughts that don’t have words. Painting what I feel is more important than painting what I see.
I simply paint because it feels right. It is how I participate in what is around me. If I am trying to understand or appreciate something, I paint it.
My painting “Only A Heartbeat Away” is an abstract painting that resembles a prayer for unity. The title is a line from the song “When I need You” by Leo Sayer referring to closeness despite miles and miles of empty space in between. This is meant to suggest that all humans are connected by a timeless energy even if we feel separate.
Amida Buddha’s Golden Chain of Love touches the figures and unifies them. If you look closely you can decipher symbols representing peace pipes, mountains, rain and tee pees.
Buddha’s Golden Chain of love meditation
Connection to people is important.
When you emerge or begin again or simply face each day, I believe that our perception is the brush that paints our reality. It’s important to keep focused and not put up your own obstacles.
